A film by Dr. D.K. C. MacDonald introduced by Dr. Gerhard Herzberg, Director of the Division of Pure Physics at the National Research Council. Dr. MacDonald, a research fellow at the National Research Council, established a research group that reached a world wide reputation in the field of Low Temperature, and the nature of matter in solid state. MacDonald introduces the steps followed in conducting the experiment, beginning with research, designing and creation of an apparatus, production of liquid helium, leading up to the drafting and finally publication of the experiment findings. Dr. Templeton and Dr. MacDonald collaborate on the experiment, along with a fellow physicist, a technical assistant, and other staff members. The experiment's findings were published as A Detailed Study of the Thermo Electric Power. <55mn>
